![]() Which was just implemented extremely badly and poorly. I'm just still confused on how it can be a live service game because once the story is over and ive killed the justice league, am I just rehashing the same game with new cosmetics and events.Īt least Avengers I could see how that could be a live service game because of new threats and new stories, new avengers and there side stories. Give me an open world, give me a great story, and then slowly add new stories, characters, areas, within the game. What does me in is why couldn't they of come up with a live service single player game. Its like they've done what they have done with the films rushed them to make a justice league movie instead of a natural flow in which Marvel did all those years ago. I just can't support the team on this and its such a shame. So after all that, I am 100% bowing out of this game. They could of given us a decent try at a Superman game, or even AquaMan, Green Lantern, The Flash, even the rumoured teenage mutant Ninja Turtles (co op i may of agreed with a little).īut the stella can't do know wrong single player masters RockSteady decided that what we needed was a live service always online designed to be played as a multiplayer game, with spongey grindy enemies with a marvel comic sheen to it. They had the chance to choose and do anything. Yet after a stellar 3 game run with batman. Its so funny how RockSteady paved the way in a sense for stellar comic book serious games, which inspired others to make great comic book games, Spiderman for one and even Guardians of the galaxy to an extent. I dont want a live service game, I dont want spongey grindy gameplay to level up. This news and this reveal has well and truly put the final nail in the coffin for me. ![]() When these games were first announced I actually didn't like the look or promise of suicide squad and actually was more intrigued with Gotham Knights but that completely flopped and I never bought it. What surprises me is why they thought green lighting 2 games in the same genre. Great comments but I don't think WB had anything to do with pushing a live service game, esp when they knew how popular the single player batman games were. Too many developers and Platforms including Sony are chasing a white rabbit that has way too far a head start and far too little meat on its bones for all these attempts to feed off of it. It looks like another title solely existing to justify monetization and grind with the aspiration of charging for additional slices of grind over time. The fact they turned this into such a shallow third person shooter focused affair instead of at the very least embracing comic book like combat in a coop setting feels. Why they continued to press on with so many of the now dated and largely disliked looter shooter live service elements as all this has been taking place with similar failed titles over the years is pretty weird. In that time we have seen numerous games just like this land hard and ultimately fail. This game has been in development for a minimum of 5 years, and potentially far longer. What I find most baffling those is that lack of vision. Void of all that art design and atmosphere in the arkham games. This game looks pretty sterile and mediocre. And again, it might blow us all away when it releases in late May - we're not going judge the game until we've got our hands on it. To be clear, you can play Suicide Squad alone it's been confirmed that bots will fill in for the other characters if you do. ![]() But we're not convinced that it's enough to reverse the narrative that this is another Marvel's Avengers.Īnd we don't think it helps that this developer video (below) is full of the usual buzzwords and the blatant PR packaging that people associate with typical live service titles. The gameplay above looks like it could be great fun, with all of the aerial movement and super attacks. Now look, Suicide Squad could end up being really good. This is basically Rocksteady - the developer behind the strictly single-player Batman Arkham games - making something that resembles Destiny. It's got a story and it's got cutscenes, but it's also got loot levels, a cosmetic battle pass, and the promise of long-term support in the form of additional characters and content updates. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is very much a live service game. ![]() Well, based on previous leaks, we knew it was coming - and here it is.
